The KIUBIQ Design Camping Set, custom-made for the VW Caddy high-roof van. This set is the perfect choice for anyone who loves to travel and fully enjoy nature. It essentially consists of our multifunctional boxes, which can be installed in the Caddy in no time at all – and just as quickly removed or reconfigured.

FAQs
Is the mattress included in the camping set?
No, the mattress is not included in the set. We deliberately opted for an "open system" so you can use your own favorite mattress.
Which sleeping pad can you recommend?
For our system, we recommend a specially adapted folding mattress that's perfectly suited for the short Caddy. This mattress ensures optimal comfort and is available from Optima Sleep Systems: Optima Mattress for KIUBIQ Caddy Set
If you're looking for a lighter, more affordable alternative and prefer a firm surface, kapok roll mats are a great choice. For those who prefer even more comfort, we recommend self-inflating mats from well-known brands like Vaude or Therm-a-Rest. These mats are easy to use and offer great comfort while camping.
Can I leave the Caddy set in the car for everyday use and still travel with several people?
Yes – that's one of the system's major advantages. The boxes can remain permanently in the trunk without restricting use of the rear seats. Even with four people in the car, the cargo space remains usable: The boxes provide storage space for luggage, shopping, or equipment and only raise the trunk floor by approximately 31 cm. Additional space remains on top of the boxes for light items or mats.
Another advantage: The entire set weighs only about 30 kg —significantly less than many other systems. This not only saves fuel but also makes everyday handling much more comfortable.
Should I choose birch, poplar or a hybrid?
It depends on your needs:
- Birch: Birch is robust, more scratch-resistant, and ages more beautifully. If you value stability, durability, and a surface that will still look good for years, birch is an excellent choice.
- Poplar: Poplar is lighter and easier to handle. It's ideal if you plan to move the set frequently and prefer a lighter weight.
- Hybrid (birch-poplar combination): This variant offers you a good mix of stability and low weight, so you get the best of both materials.
Consider what is most important to you – stability, scratch resistance, lightness, or a balanced mix – and choose accordingly.
Can the protective mat stay in the car?
Yes, a protective mat or carpet can stay in the car and is even beneficial. It compensates for the slightly raised plastic cover behind the Caddy's tailgate, preventing annoying rattling. The raised floor of the Caddy Maxi with a third row of seats can also be compensated for with a sturdy carpet.
